Client SnapshotsStrategic PlanningWorkSafe BC has an ongoing need to train 3500 geographically dispersed employees. Ingenia developed a comprehensive strategic plan that enabled the client to match e-learning goals with business objectives. WorkSafe brought Ingenia back to develop a knowledge management web site for managers and human resources advisors. Delivering aquaculture online training to rural farmers in Vietnam required careful planning and creative solutions. Ingenia worked with the International Development Research Centre and the Ministry of Fisheries to develop a complete approach for funding, course development, Internet delivery, staff training and the establishment of on-campus and rural training centres. ResearchHow do you attract, retain and develop workers in remote parts of Canada? Working with the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada, Ingenia developed a recruitment and retention model, 16 case studies of best practices and a comprehensive industry action plan. BC Business encourages the growth of technology sectors in British Columbia. They engaged Ingenia to research the e-learning industry in the province, analyze key global competitors and lay out a three year marketing plan for the sector. Instructional Design and DevelopmentThe Canada School of Public Service had a three-year project to deliver 60 self-directed online courses to over 30,000 executives and managers in the federal government. Ingenia worked with the School to design, develop, maintain and evaluate these courses. Electric utility BC Hydro uses specialized software applications to train many of its 4500 employees. With Ingenia, they have produced pre-recorded e-learning programs, using virtual classroom and animation software. The goals are to reduce strain on management and help desk resources, save travel costs and ensure consistent training on key corporate initiatives. EvaluationSince 1998, the Nova Scotia Department of Education has been operating the Virtual Campus, which provides online apprenticeship courses. To help them determine the most effective use of future spending, they engaged Ingenia to evaluate the program. Ingenia interviewed instructors and employers, surveyed past and present apprentices, researched programs across Canada and prepared an action plan for moving ahead. Human Resources and Skills Development Canada wanted to discover if online learning can help in career planning and essential skills. They funded an 18-month pilot project, in five locations across Canada. Ingenia was part of a team of evaluators that interviewed participants and made recommendations. |
